I got the most recent Trains Magazine issue and one of the articles details 86 passenger cars that were located near Houston's Astrodome (with 14 surviving today)

Is there a complete roster off all railcars out there (mainly the numbers/names of each car)?

Thank you for posting this request. I am interested in what cars are still existing.

From what I gathered, the SP triple diner (at the Grapevine Vintage Railroad), ex-NYC "Sandy Creek" (currently with Norfolk Southern), and NYC "Wingate Brook" (currently on the Lebanon Mason & Monroe)

A similar query was put up elsewhere a little while ago. Below is the info I have on the lightweight equipment acquired by Hofheinz and subsequent dispositions of each. As a result this does not account for all of the cars existing or otherwise. Now, I do not claim this to be 100% accurate, but its what I've been able to compile. Histories of cars prior to being acquired by Hofheinz are not included for clarity sake. Cars are listed by original owner, so it may not match road/number/name as acquired by Hofheinz. This is particulary relevant for the prewar Pullman owned sleepers.

Cars in blue are the ones that still exist as of 2024.

Unfortunately I have yet to come across a full list of the total number of cars that Hofheinz acquired for the project. As Wil demonstrated above, compiling a list of the lightweights is straightforward thanks to Randall's volumes.

But the same cannot be said for some of the business cars that he acquired, particularly from SOU, some of which were apparently quite old, including cars that SOU had picked up from the CofG. At least several of these are reportedly still scattered about in the Lone Star State.
