Here is an update on Saltillo station. Shingles, chimney and station order post are on. Doors, trim, and siding are going on. Siding on the far walls is completed.

In other news the first train crossed the PA 994 crossing at Pogue and the line is in service to just short of the high school driveway. Storehouse 2 in Rockhill is ready for foundation repair. Interior work on Combine #14 is on the home stretch. The endless march of window repairs in Rockhill continues. Boiler Shop is getting some siding replacement.

In case anyone asks, they are making good progress on #16. No set for return to operation.

In case anyone asks, no, there is no new news on the Pogue bridge.

Just curious, is any work ongoing on any of the other steam locomotives at this time?

Thanks,
John

IIRC, 15 is being worked on actively to return in a few years. 14 would be next in line. I believe 14 was supposed to return first but they found more issues than previously expected. 16's running gear and truck issues are being corrected now I believe.

Seeing photos of the siding go up on the EBT Facebook group was pretty jarring to look at.

I (and probably many others) had only seen Saltillo station in either a faded cream looking color, or the boxcar red it had until its final days.

Big surprise to me, the siding is yellow, and then it took me a couple minutes to realize that's the same color as the Orbisonia Station. It's a nice color, looking very much like some smaller Southern railway stations.

I would assume many of the wooden structures were painted like this, but did Robertsdale ever have this color?

The Robertsdale station is concrete block construction. I believe it was grey in regular service. The original wooden station looked to be red from the few existing photos.

Track Crew has 1100 ft and 2 small grade crossing before needing to stop at the bridge

My question to the track crew:
Are you going to work on track in the Yard near the coal dock or are you going to go to Saltillo and work on 1 of 3 things.
1 Push north to Three Springs
2 push south and build the wye
3 prepare the area a the station to tackle the double track grade crossing

Once the Station is complete, i think a section of track needs to be setup like at Robertsdale and a couple rock hopper cars placed on Display

The general Question is, the Stand Pipe / Water Columns, i see them in piece near the paint shop.

In rebuilding this station did the EBT Foundation run into any issues with handicap accessibility? If so what were the solutions?

Utility buildings were generally painted red, stations cream, like the station in Rockhill. The Saltillo station was painted red post-common carrier, likely because there was a lot of red on hand for the shops in Rockhill. The exterior cream paint on the Satltillo Station at the end of common carrier operations was quite faded. The interior cream was darker like Rockhill. The exterior color on the new station does seem a bit dark though. Paint on the EBT was not always a consistent shade though. The green of the passenger cars varied as well. The Robertsdale station was always grey, either the native gray of the cement block or a similar gray painted onto them.

For reference, here is some interior cream inside the original Saltillo Station shortly before demolition: https://ebtarchives.catalogaccess.com/photos/5500
