Does anyone have a current or old material specification for the bolts used to hold a coupler pocket to a locomotive? At least one was snipped off during disassembly years ago and needs to be replaced. The existing bolts are 1 1/2".

Speculation of "Couldn't you use..." is not helpful since we currently have no requirement or standard in hand by which to judge any such suggestion.

Examples of what material others are using would be helpful.

Joy of joys. I was finally able to find an answer buried deep in the reference material so generously shared by Dennis Doughtery (sp) Daugherty. In the Baldwin standard practice M-19A in 1949 the material spec is SAE 1045, bolts annealed, 75,000 Min. T.S.
