Don't recall if this has been mentioned before, and somewhat off topic, but this manufacturer of steam stationary engines for sawmill use is being redeveloped as a museum in Meridian, MS.

I don't think this is off topic at all. It involves saving and interpreting history where it happened, something we've done little of in our field. Imagine, for instance, if the Glover Machine Works (which built locomotives) could have been cleaned up and saved in its own building instead of moving everything up to Kennesaw, allowing the original factory to be destroyed? What better place could there have been to display the few remaining Glover locomotives?

In railway preservation, we still seem to be in the mindset of creating railroad theme parks, much like F Nelson Blount's dream for Steamtown. In doing so, a lot of historic sites where the equipment really belonged have been lost. One positive example is the Como, Colorado roundhouse below. Though it is undergoing slow restoration, and is undoubtedly the most historic of all Colorado narrow gauge structures, I've yet to find anyone here on the Interchange or the Narrow Gauge Discussion Forum who is directly involved. And bringing up the idea of eventually placing all extant C&S narrow gauge engines inside that building always brings a littany of "it can't be dones".

The current owner, Dr. Charles Brantigan of Denver, has a Web site for his and his wife's medical practice which includes a lot of information about their preservation projects. It also inlcudes contact information.

Hi its not so far off. I think the home made shay at Kinzer, Pa. steam show uses one of there engines. bb
