We are designing a new inspection pit that will be used for steam, diesel and car work. Would anyone who has an inspection pit be willing to share how your design incorporates the rail? Do you like it or does it ever bring grief? Was the fastening system cast into the concrete? How far apart are the fasteners? Does the fastening system allow adjustment of gauge or alignment after the floor is poured? What is the distance from the base of the rail to the edge of the pit? How deep is your pit from top of rail and is it too little, too much or just right? If it is of recent construction, did a licensed professional engineer stamp your pit design? Thanks in advance for helping us avoid "reinventing the wheel."
