To answer Matt Conrad's question, no not all Edwards cars ride like the M-3, Cheat Mountain Slamander. The trucks built for that car were built for us by Irwin Car & Equipment. They are not "passenger" style, they are, unfortunately, more freight style and do have springs that are too stiff. The M-3 was the first car our company built since 1942 and needless to say we learned a few things in building that car (M-3) and have not made the same mistakes since.

In regards to the B&SE No.500 not being able to run on May 2nd at Spencer, I would like to report for the record the reason for same. It was discoverd late Saturday, May 1st, that the drive shaft seal (gasket) coming into the reversible gear box, from the transmission, had faild thus allowing gear oil to leak badly. It was decided to not run the car again until we could change out this seal, which we are doing this week in order for the car to operate Saturday the 15th.
