From the Steam Locomotives of British Columbia list:

Fort Steele is going to be having a Father's Day event on June 20
2004. The #1077 and the Dunrobin will be steamed up. Shay #115 will
be pulled out of the shop for display and the two 44-ton diesels
(that should be arriving within the next two weeks[ex Creestbrook
Forest Industries #14 and #25{ex CP #15}]) will be on display as
well.

I was at Ft. Steele in 1999 on this date, and saw the 1077 running. It makes a large loop, with a steep grade out of Ft. Steele, where the engine works pretty hard. This engine reminded me of the Kentucky Central #11, also a 2-6-2(Former Reader engine). Ft. Steele has a lot to offer for the family as well...Clydesdales pulling a wagon in the town center doing special demonstation loops, etc. The old west town buildings are interesting to tour. We did the tour but did not ride the train. They also had a hand-car near the station folks could ride back and forth. All this with lovely scenic mountains in the background.

Considering the lack of steam in Canada, I would recommend this location.

15 minutes: Shay CN 3289
15 minutes: Coal fired aux. crane
15 minutes: Swedish 2-8-0
5 hours: CPR D-10 1057
5 hours: CPR (forget) #136
3-1/2 hrs: Huntsville and Lake of Bays 0-4-0ST.

And, that's the railway stuff, and 2816 is spending time here again this summer again.

Not bad. No, it's not Pennsylvania, but still...

The first 2 I work on; did work on the Swedish 2-8-0 but will not this summer (family time) and the others make for a nice trip.
