 Post subject: Spring Break-Suggestions!

I am considering taking a week or so during my daughters spring break in mid-April to combine some business(video shooting Trains), with some R&R for us all. So I thought about the Outer Banks for the R&R for 3-4 days, but what can I do railroad-wise either on the way there or back from southwestern Ohio. Am willing to divert out of the way to PA, WV, VA, NC, KY, TN, if anything is happening. How about EBT, or other steam operations, or is it still too early. I like travel in spring and fall, but there isn't usually a lot of choices at that time. Welcome any and all suggestions on the subject.

Greg,
The Great Smokey Mountains RR in Western NC is one place that you could stop at. The schedule is on their website below.

Greg,

Too bad you won't be coming west during your spring break. We just scouted the line for the SP&S 700 excursion April 20-23 along its home route from Vancouver WA to Spokane. There will be some spectacular shots, especially as the 700 storms Providence Hill both directions - 1% plus for miles around sweeping curves. Plus we scouted some spots for photo runbys (secret so as to be available to our passengers only) that will be mighty appealing. That time of year could even still see a light dusting of snow - it sure was doing more than dusting last weekend. By the way, our dome class is sold out, good seating is still available in Parlor and Coach. See our website at: www.sps700.org for ticket information.

Yours,
John Cox

Let's see, April. By then we will be operating 7 days a week. Diesel Mon-Fri and steam Sat-Sun. Feel free to stop by for a visit to the Spencer Roundhouse. Take a look at the webpage for schedule and such. email me if you have any questions.

The NCTM looks like they have their act together. Just wish the RAIL DAYS was a week earlier! Sounds like a fun time, and a great time to see everything operating. I think you guys should be commended for trying to appeal to everyone, especially the general tourists. The youngsters need a reason to come, and you certainly have plenty of special events for them.
Hope to visit sometime as well.
