What has become of Frisco 2-8-2 #1352? The last I heard she was at the Illinois & Midland (nee-C&IM) engine house in Taylorville, Illinois being overhauled when the owner went broke. I later heard she was for sale.

Is she still in Taylorville? Still for sale?

The 1352 is still sitting in Taylorville. The tender is sitting outside along with the domes and what looks like some of the plumbing. Last time I went by there was about a year ago the weeds were about 3 feet tall inside the fence. I go through Taylorville every night and have talked to several local folks, most of whom don't even know it's down there.

At least a year ago or more, when the group's website was still up and running, they announced that the boiler inspection did not result in a good report. What that meant exactly, I don't know. It could have only meant that the current owner didn't have enough money, whereas others might have the money. I believe I e-mailed them asking for more details, but I never got a response. Hard to find a buyer if you don't share important information like that. As I recall, a lot of effort was expended to remove the engine from an unwelcome storage site where it had stood in floodwater that at least came up to the bottom of the boiler. Doer anyone else know how far along they were in the restoration?

I encountered the same situation when I briefly corresponded with Mr. Lemen. Both e-mails & written letters of inquiry without response. Most likely then, what we do know about the locomotive is currently all that is known...

Rob:

For the record, the seven Frisco 2-8-2 engines of the 1350 class were all rebuilt from 1306 class 2-8-0 Consolidations (number 1352 was rebuilt from #1321.) Therefore their boilers are 1912 boilers with a new course added.
