Holly Sugar is donating former SP 1000 (SW1, built 1939) to California State RR Museum.

I wonder what the locomotive has been doing in recent years? Has it been in storage some where?

It's been at the Holly Sugar plant in Tracy for quite some time.

Over the years, every preservation group in Northern California seems to have said that this locomotive was coming to their collection. Will be glad to see it finally happen, with the locomotive preserved -- regardless of who ends up with it.
