Whats happening to Ex Reader 2 6 2 108? Last I heard it was being rebuilt in lSulpher Springs Texas by a guy that was going to juse it to train steam loco crews and hold "driving Experience" runs where the public can pay to run a steam engine!?! ( I am NOT kidding) then I have since heard the project was abandoned after preparing to remove the Boiler.

There is web page dedicated to the project (see below), it doesn't say that it has been abandoned, but there is contact information if you are interested in contacting them directly.

OK, guys, I was involved in that project when 108 was inspected and purchased, and Ron Larson is doing the hands on now in Sulphur Springs.

The project has not been abandoned. It is on hold awaiting working out some nasty issues about who can do what to the boiler at what cost, and to what degree the running gear will be overhauled.

This is very much a business venture (even though it brought a Texas logger back home) and the economic considerations are very much a real part of the project management equasion.

108 is a great little engine with a fine future which will probably not start for the next couple years. Once under way, the concept sounds like great fun and fine education, and a veritable time machine, running setouts and pickups on a freight train on the Blacklands Railroad. Sort of like 1930 shortline local peddler work all over again.
