Ben Perry reports good steam news on the Yahoo New England Loggers group:

The annual White Mountain Central Railroad Days will be held Saturday and Sunday Sept 18th & 19th at Clark's Trading Post, Rte 3, Lincoln NH.

Expected to be in service this year are the regular White Mt Central Excursion passenger train; freight train with l00 year old former Boston & Maine caboose that will be carrying "passengers"; log train and the 1930 Reo Speedwagon rail bus. Motive power should be #4 Heisler; former Nashua Tie plant 0-4-0T Porter; former East Branch & Lincoln #5 2-4-2T Baldwin, and 65 ton GE center cab diesel. On display will be unrestored former EB&L Shay and other items of interest. Of interest to B&M fans, The trains will operate over a portion of the right of way of the former B&M Johnson extension.

This year marks of the 100th year anniversary of the former Barre & Chelsea Railroad covered bridge. In 1963-65 the railroad covered bridge located in East Montpelier, Vt., was dismantled, transported, and reassembled spanning the Pemigewasset River on the White Mt. Central by Edward M. Clark, his two teenage sons, and a dedicated crew. This scenic extension of The White Mt. Central RR was a monumental accomplishment. The White Mountain Central has been operating through the bridge for more than 40 years. Plans are under way to mark the occasion on Saturday Sept 18th with a ceremony starting at 1045am followed by a parade of equipment through the bridge.

Railroad Days are also a special time when many New England railfans that contribute and view various forums and lists gather to witness and take part in many of the days' activities. There will be numerous photo opportunities.

Regular admission prices will apply: child, age 3-5, $3; adult, age 6 and up, $12. Seniors $11. This includes bear shows at 12N and 3PM and all the other regular attractions. A great event for the whole family. Ticket office opens at 10AM. Hope that you all can make it. As in all railroad situations, everything is subject to change without notice.

Don?t forget to check out the always interesting HOBO RAILROAD in adjacent Lincoln during your visit.
