As president of the Pacific Railroad Preservation Association, I am proud of the receipt of the Trains Magazine Preservation award. (see December 2004 Trains page 22) This is a grant of $10,000 dedicated to the SP&S 700. The project is new wheels for the front truck of the locomotive. We have found the wheels and will be shipping them to Portland shortly.
Congratulations are in order to Matt Baccitich, PRPA board member, for doing all of the work needed to receive this grant.
