The two DL&W MU cars are both trailers so they do NOT form a motor-trailer set such as would have operated out of Hoboken to suburban points.

Seems I read a little while back, on one of the posts, what the fate of the two F-units in this group was to be. I can't seem to find that post. (Maybe my brain is just fizzled and it never existed) Anyway, does anyone happen to know who purchased them and what their fate is?I'd like to watch their progress.Hope this isn't another LTE hoard it and scrap it purchase.

Good point. I think that it would be better for Steamtown to restore the motor-trailer set (3357 and 3505) that is sitting behind their office building and display those as representative of suburban steam-road electrification. Does anyone have any input as to whether this would really be a logical development of Steamtown's mission?

Well, given the current state of affairs at Scranton, its unlikely that and interpretation of the old MU's will take place. Interestingly enough the MU cars have a historical connection to Scranton in that may were re-painted at the Keyser Valley shops here. In fact I have seen photographs of several freshly painted MU cars adjacent to the Scranton locomotive shop (now chamberlain) in the 1940's. I might be mistaken, but the car in the photo was at one time slated to become the property of the trolly museum in Scranton.

It was my understanding the DL&W MU cars received running repairs at the Hoboken MU Shed but heavy repairs at the Keyser Valley shop until E-L moved passenger car work to the ex-Erie Susquehanna shop.

This gives them a link with Scranton over and above the name painted on the letterboard.

Their being DL&W electric cars in the Steamtown collection also creates a link between SNHS and the trolley museum.

When and where the cars are interpreted is a matter for the future.
