Steam-locomotive fans who can be in Detroit this Saturday will want to know about a talk by John H. White, Jr. on the development and history of steam locomotives in the United States since 1830. The lecture is a presentation of the New York Central System Historical Society, Michigan Central District. It will be at 10:00 AM at the Detroit Historical Museum, at 5401 Woodward Avenue at Kirby, opposite the Detroit Institute of Arts, and just off the Warren St. exit from I-75. The lecture is free with admission to the Museum.

Mr. White is Curator emeritus of Transportation at the National Museum of American History of the Smithsonian Institution, and author of The American Railroad Passenger Car, The American Railroad Freight Car, and American Locomotives, An Engineering History 1830-1888.
