Came across this web page from the nascent Bartlett Historical Society (Bartlett, New Hampshire). It appears they have successfully negotiated with the state for use of the former Maine Central enginehouse there. They had recieved a preliminary green light over a year ago, then I believe backed off due to concerns over the site clean-up. But that appears to have been resolved.

"Work is scheduled to begin sometime after spring. The State of N.H. will be installing a new roof , repairing damaged main support, a final asbesttos abatement and check, removal of crumbling side office and patching holes in the side."

This is very good news. If nothing else, the roundhouse could provide shelter for some of the rarer pieces at the Conway Scenic RR. As usual, the moving force for the project came from local persons just interested in saving the history of their town, with little support from our foaming choo choo community.

Are all 6 stalls (as in the picture) still in place?

No, just four stalls today. The others were torn down upon dieselization. There was once also a turntable, but it was removed when they started using the 2-6-6-2s on the Mountain Division. Bartlett was a helper staton for trains going through Crawford Notch.
