It's just a rumor

We have confirmation that prior to shipping overseas, she will be painted in a Stars and Stripes scheme and paraded throughout the US to sell war bonds and plastic American Flags at $10.00 a pop

Now I heard the #2929 would be shipped back to Canada, converted to burn oil. equipped with several odd-looking running and ditch lights (as well as red reflective running boards) and named 'Ferroequus'...or was that some other engine?

No, you guys have it all wrong. The latest is that CPR has purchased her as a template for a new steam locomotive construction plan to be based out of Winnipeg. This of course comes as part of the larger announcement that everyone I'm sure has heard. CPR has announced (albeit unofficially) that they are hereby selling any diesel made by any firm other than MLW/ ALCO, as well as the announcement of a lawsuit with VIA Rail over the right for CPR to name their new all-pullman transcontinental train the "Canadian."

The truth is that its going to be converted into what it most closely resembles - a Thermos bottle. Since it's on wheels, it will be used to deliver hot tea to freezing mounties in Western Canada.
