Saturday, October 30th

In Phoenicia, George Peck led a crew consisting of Dave Mason and Derek Stapleton. They worked in the Phoenicia yard, and later were joined by Jason DiTolla when they went to Kingston and assisted with trackwork.

Al Johnson and Terry W. continued work on converting the box car to a shop.

Crew in Phoenicia was Dave Heick as engineer, Ray Farrell as conductor and Bill Kaba as assistant conductor. Ed Palmatier and Peter Fluchere were ticket agents.

In Kingston, crew included Al Schoessow, Steve Gollow, Mark Glaser and Connie Johnson. Ultan Johnson was ticket agent.

Also in Kingston Earl Pardini led a track crew consisting of Steve Gollow, Will Wilsey, Matt Oaks, Joe Marsh and Mark Glaser.



Sunday, October 31st

In Phoenicia, crew included Al Schoessow, John Watson, Ed Winstanley and Doug Senterman. Peter Fluchere was ticket agent in Mt. Tremper.

Also in Phoenicia, Mike LaLonde and Joe Klapkowski continued work on CMRR 202.

In Kingston, crew included John Patane, Walt Otto, Steve Gollow and Mark Glaser. Connie and Ultan Johnson were ticket agents.

Also in Kingston, George Peck led a track crew consisting of Earl Pardini, Matt Oaks, Will Wilsey, Joe Marsh, Steve Gollow, Mark Glaser and John Patane. They replaced 19 ties west of Albany Avenue.


Tuesday, November 2nd

On Tuesday, November 2nd Dick Ray and Dave Sigafoose, along with Connie Johnson and Al Schoessow, rebuilt the ramp up the farmer's crossing at MP 5.3 in preparation for the upcoming car move on 209.

Saturday, November 6th

In Phoenicia, George Peck, Mike Adsit, Jason DiTolla and Paul Sternitzke took the ballast regulator to the west end of the Phoenicia yard to complete flood damage repairs there.

In Phoenicia, Al Johnson and Ed Palmatier cleaned up the yard around the caboose and flatcar then started preparing 701 and 702 for work. They surveyed each car and compiled a list of work to be done.

Earl Pardini led a crew that inserted 13 ties and tamped 25 more between MP 4.1 and 4.2 in Kingston. Participating were Bob Blake, Dave Hilliard, Peter Fluchere, Will Willsey, George Bain, Mark Glaser, Al Schoessow, Steve Kijak, and Ray Pollard.


Sunday, November 7th

Earl Pardini led a crew that inserted and spiked 12 ties and tamped twelve more immediately east of Elmendorf overpass, correcting a dip and super elevation on the tunnel approach. He was joined by Mark Glaser, Bob Blake, Al Schoessow, Will Willsey, and Dave Hilliard.

Saturday, November 13th

On Saturday, November 13th, Earl Pardini will lead a track crew in Kingston replacing ties near the O&W switch. They will start at Cornell Street at 9am.

In Phoenicia, the 702 crew will start work at 10am on the remaining items on the 702.

Also in Phoenicia, Joe Klapkowski and Mike LaLonde will be doing finish-up work on flat car 202 starting about 10am.

Also on Saturday, George Peck will lead a track crew out of Phoenicia, replacing ties starting in the Phoenicia yard going east. They will meet in the Phoenicia yard between 8:30 and 9am.

On Sunday, November 14th, Earl Pardini will again lead a track crew in Kingston replacing ties between Downs Street and Elmendorf Street. They will start at Cornell Street at 9am.

Thursday, November 11th

Joe Marsh led a crew consisting of Al Schoessow, Connie Johnson, Dick Ray, Dave Sigafoose Dick Wilhelm and Todd Syska.

They got the air brakes for CNJ 1198 and 1204 working. They also removed the diaphrams from the Lion Gardiner so the car could be moved with the car mover.

Saturday, November 13th

On Saturday, Earl Pardini and Mark Glaser led a track crew in Kingston working east of Elmendorf Street. The crew consisted of Will Willsey, George Cook, Joe Marsh, Bob Blake, Al Schoessow, and Peter Fluchere. They replaced 10 ties.

Sunday, November 14th

Mark Glaser led a crew in Kingston inserting ties east of Elmendorf Street. Sixteen ties were spiked in place completing the Elmendorf overpass to Downs St. track upgrade (12 were inserted last weekend, 10 the day before for a total of 38 ). The crew consisted of Walt Otto, John Watson, Ernie Klopping, Joe Marsh, Bob Blake, and Al Schoessow.

Monday, November 15th

On Monday, Joe Marsh led a crew consisting of Dick Ray, Al Schoessow, Connie Johnson, Al Howes and Dick Wilhelm at Route 209. They finished testing the brakes on the gondola. Only the hopper car brakes remain to be tested.


Saturday, November 20th

On Saturday, Al Johnson led a crew on the 702, with Terry W., Bill Kaba and Ed Palmatier assisting. Per Al Johnson: "Terry, Bill and I worked in the boxcar scraping the bathroom ceiling cover and one of the luggage racks, sorting parts and preparing it for the work sessions and Ed worked on replacing a seat cushion in 702. We surveyed 701 and 702 for work to be done."

Also on Saturday, Mike LaLonde finished work on CMRR 202, turning it over the MOW crew for work train service.

"In Kingston today a crew consisting of Earl, Al Schoessow, Walt Otto, Will Wilsey, Ernie Klopping, Bob Blake and Mark Glaser inserted and fully spiked ten ties about three car legnths east of the O&W switch. Additionally, six ties were tamped,replated and spiked. Some exploratory digging was done in the cut between Albany and Elmendorf to assess tie condition there. At Cornell St. , the gearbox from the yard dump truck was removed for repair/replacement."

Tuesday, November 23rd

On Tuesday, Joe Marsh led a crew consisting of Al Howes, George Peck, Dick Ray, Dick Wilhelm and Paul Sternitzke. They completed air brake repair on the last of the cars at 209, which are now ready to return to Cornell Street subject to tie repair.

Saturday, November 27th

Al Johnson led a crew working on the 702, including Gary Lowe and Ed Palmatier. Writes Al:

"Gary, Ed and I worked in the boxcar installing lights, power receptacles and scraping the bathroom ceiling cover and one of the luggage racks, sorting parts and preparing it for the work sessions. We also took more items out of the boxcar down to the trailer for storage. "

George Peck led a crew consisting of Dave Mason, Derek Stapleton, Mike Adsit, Jason DiTolla and Paul Sternitzke. They inserted 14 ties on the west end runaround in Phoenicia.

In Shokan, Mike LaLonde and Al Howes continued work removing stumps for the new siding in Shokan. From Al:

"Mike has finished pulling all the stumps from the ground that needed to be removed for the installation of the turnout and siding at the Shokan site. Photo below shows Mike [LaLonde] digging with the crane using a large clamshell bucket (2/3 cubic yard ) which has teeth."

In Kingston, Earl Pardini led a crew replacing ties and uncovering dirt from the track between Elmendorf Street and Albany Avenue. Mike LaLonde joined them late in the day. They replaced, tamped and spiked 4 ties. The crew consisted of Thom Johnson, Ray Pollard, John Patane, and Will Willsey. Joe Klapkowski and Bob Blake worked on the spike puller in the Cornell Street yard.

Sunday, November 28th

At Cornell Street, Earl and Mimi Pardini led a crew decorating the passenger train for upcoming holiday service. The crew consisted of Earl and Mimi Pardini, Pat Smalley, Ernie Klopping, Gary Lowe, Walt Otto, Will Wilsey, and Mark Glaser.

Later in the day, George Cook, Gary Lowe and Joe Marsh surveyed the track between the west abutment of C-9 and Rte.209. Tie condition and gauge conformance were assessed. The process of removing the transmission from the yard dump truck continued with Ernie Klopping leading the project.

On Sunday, December 5th, we will be running our Santa Train in Kingston. The yard will open at 9am for those who are working on projects there.

Also on Sunday, Joe Marsh will be leading a crew to start pulling OTM replacing ties from 209 to C9. They will be using our new spike puller. He will be starting at 9am at Cornell Street, then moving to Route 209 shortly thereafter. He could use as many hands as possible.

Sunday, December 5th

On Sunday, our Kingston crew consisted of John Patane, PJ Hintz, Mark Glaser and Steve Gallow. John Tuma and Thom Johnson assisted. Ultan Johnson and Peter Fluchere shared ticket agent duty. Dakin Morehouse was Santa.

Joe Marsh led a crew at 209 consisting of Connie Johnson, Dick Wilhelm, Dick Ray, Todd Syska and Dave Hilliard. They pulled spikes and plates from 112 ties marked for replacement, and laid out 16 replacement ties.

At Cornell yard on Sunday, Earl Pardini and Ernie Klopping completed removal of the transmission from the Mack dump truck.

Sunday, December 12th

In Kingston, the CMRR ran its Holiday Train. Earl Pardini was Engineer, Walt Otto, conductor, Mark Glaser and Bob Blake were flaggers. Peter Fluchere was ticket agent and Todd Syska was Santa. Mimi Pardini and Pat Smalley provided hospitality and music.

In Phoenicia, the CMRR operated the annual ESRM/CMRR joint Santa train. Crew were Jason DiTolla, Dan Howard, Ray Farrell, Bruce DeVorkin and Tony Bocchino. Dakin Morehouse was Santa.

Saturday, December 18th

On Saturday, Joe Marsh and Dick Wilhelm made repairs to the car mover at Cornell Street Yard.

The Kingston Holiday train ran successfully. Crew included Ray Farrell, John Patane, Walt Otto (engineer trainee), Mark Glaser, Connie Johnson, Bruce Devorkin, John Tuma, & Alicia Williams. Pat Smalley was ticket agent. Earl and Mimi Pardini, as well as Neil & Kathy Isabelle, provided music.


In Phoenicia, George Peck had a crew that made initial repairs to the washout at MP 24.53. The crew included Dave Mason, Chris Mason, Brian Mason, Mike Adsit, Al Howes, Jason DiTolla and Derek Stapleton. The washout has been initially filled in.


Sunday, December 19th

The Kington Holiday Train ran, with the 2pm train sold out. The crew included John Patane as engineer, PJ Hintz, Paul Sternitzke, Mark Glaser, Bob Blake, and John Tuma. Ultan Johnson was ticket agent. Earl and Mimi Pardini provided music. Also attending were Bruce Devorkin, Joe Marsh, Pat Smalley and Anthony Bocchino
