Well, if teenage vampire movies are back from the grave of the 1950s, might steam and passenger trains come back too?

I think most people here would like steamers better than vampires, even though steam takes about as much out of you as the vampire, and takes your money, too.

Since we're on a flick kick, I found some movie footage from a place called "Pleasantville;" too bad the film crew that made that movie missed out on the rail action in that town:

Since this topic is about 614, I was watching old footage of her strutting her stuff and noticed what I ment to ask before; what does SLCA mean? Its painted on her dome.

It stood for Steam Locomotive Corporation of America.

I'm not much older than big-bad-2666, and I've been into trains since age 2, when I saw my first Thomas the Tank Engine video. I'm flagging traffic this year for "Day Out With Thomas", where (I hope) many more youngsters will be introduced to trains (without faces) and begin a life-long interest.

Okay, there's a sidetrack. Now back to the 614...

Ross has had many ventures and company names when it comes to running steam.

The High Iron Co. (CP Pacifics and NKP 759)
Steam Locomotive Corporation of America (Chessie 2101 and C&O 614)
American Coal Enterprises (C&O 614T, coal test runs)
Iron Horse Enterprises (C&O 614 on NJ Transit)

Hey Ross, for those 2 other locomotives could one of them be the Pennsy M1 at Stasburg? As I saw in a early comment, a certain Pennsylvania government person said he would support you if you tried. The M1 has the same if not more pulling power than the 614 and can run at the same speeds as the 614. The M1 hasn't run since the late fifties so it deserves to be restored to operational condition. Please tell me what you think of this idea and respond. From the son of a person you may remember as Joe Sabat.

PRRforLife: you may have missed more recent news, but according to more current announcements from the people behind the Greenbriar project, steam is not a part of the plan and never really was, beyond something that might be considered in the future if the Class 1 railroad that will host the train has a drastic change in policy in regards to steam power on their lines. I'm not sure how or why this thread started if that was always the case, but indeed this whole thread should probably be disregarded as falsehood.
