Didn't the NRHS hire an outside agency (F&F) so issues like this would not happen, and they would not have to deal with the administration paperwork?

For a variety of reasons, NRHS has ended its contract with Fernley & Fernley and is going to an on line membership renewal system that is expected to be much more cost effective and efficient.

And part of some current controversy is that it went ONLY to an online renewal system. No accommodation was made for members--and there turned out to be many--that lacked online access or capability.

My own Chapter's treasurer had to take it upon himself to process a few members' renewals on their behalf. I'm sure we lost a couple members around that time, but whether it was because of this payment system or general other dissatisfaction or issues, I can't say.

"For the record, members in long good standing (a 25-year member here) only received their membership cards from the National NRHS about 2-3 weeks ago."

And in my case they processed my timely renewal, issuing a card to my wife (a family member), and sending a letter telling me that they missed having me as a member in June.

What's that have to do with anything? If somebody else does a lousy job of it, then they can too?

I just looked at the 2013 audited statement.

https://admin.nrhs.com/public/Finance/2 ... Report.pdf

A couple things I noticed.

This isn't some small time museum. They had expenditures of over $1 million in 2013.

They also spent $27,595 on "membership records". Tell me again why it's OK if it's "hard to do". Nearly $28K should take care of a lot of "hard". Again, this isn't some old timer volunteer doing it in his spare time.

And this, boys and girls, is why you should never put everything you have on Facebook and nowhere else...

You're assuming the new system will have no provisions for people to pay by check or even money order and that isn't the case.

The big difference is F&F is out of the picture.

The NRHS 990 forms for 2014 and 2015 have been made available for public inspection and it appears that the national organization did much better in 2015 aided by controlling costs and a profitable convention.
