Here is one example of a "vintage tourist line postcard" (see below link). It on the ABPR archives at railfan.net

The view is from the long-gone four-foot gauge Carrol Park & Western RR near Bloomsburg, PA. It shows ex-Elk River Coal & Lumber 2-truck Climax 3 along the route with a "homemade" combine car and coach (made from lengthened ex-DL&W cabooses). Climax 3 is now in Felton, CA awaiting a rebuild on the Roaring Camp & Big Trees RR. The passenger cars are now at Allaire, NJ on the Pine Creek RR (the combine is being made into a handicap-accessible car with a wheelchair lift).

I have seen this particular card turn up at recent shows.

I am also a collector of tourist line postards and have quite a few. Back in the mid 80's I visited the old Carrol Park & Western site at Bloomsburg and purchased several railroad souvenirs at the flea market operation that was set up in the various buildings. The track was all gone but most of the building including the water tank was still there.

At the other Bloomsburg operation, The Magee Transportation Museum, I found a few old postcards some patches and a stack of tickets from the trolley operation there. This site is also a flea market, auction type operation. At Magee there was still in 1990, a sign on one of the buildings indicating "Trolley Museum". I offered to purchase the signs from the property owner for a token amount and he said that they were worth much more than that. I left without the signs as his price was way out of line when i asked how much.

I have fond memories and feel very fortunate to have visited both places when I was a kid.

I also have every steam directory since 1966 (I think that was the first year it was issued) with the exception of 1981. I had it but it has been lost. I always looked forward to getting the new issue every year and planning just where we should go on vacations. I'm also looking for a new copy of the 1970 issue as the copy I have is without a cover. If anyone has any of these please contact me offline. I have a spare 1966 issue to trade. Sorry for the ad.
