Hmm, interesting question there; maybe a Ps2 look alike? Jim

...she certainly would have some other color than blue!

Hey Jim Wrinn-

Great SR/NS steam book! I picked up a copy last weekend and pretty much read the thing straight through in one sitting--I think a first for me.

Fantastic photos and great text. Very enjoyable reading, it brought back some good memories. I really enjoyed the numerous behind the scenes stories, especially from the programs early years. Case in point, dropping lit M80 firecrackers down the stack to clear the front end netting!

This is one book that should be on EVERYONE's bookshelf here!

Regards,
Jim Robinson

Jim:

Maybe... I seem to recall seeing a picture of the 4-6-2 when she was GM&O #580 and I believe she wore a headlight centered on the smokebox door (where it should be!) She was quite good looking at that time. It seems to me that I remember reading that Mr. Spence liked the headlight on his engines up at the top of the smokebox and re-did a lot of the locomotives in his collection that way. Rather ironic that as a renumbered 425 she still appears that way so many years later.

Hi,

My dad always tells me that he had an IC Pacific in his collection that pulled the "Panama Limited" before they went to E units and smooth side cars. He said that it had been redrivered with smaller drivers to pull freight duty. He also said that it was scrapped and it was a shame, too. Dad had the opportunity to see all the equipment, but didn't take any photos.

Would have also looked nice in a double header with 750...
