You may be thinking of "Big Mack" #4?

Yes, that's it. Thanks for clarifying!

LONG DEAD THREAD Update:

Someone came up with video of another Mack baby switcher being used by the Escanaba & Lake Superior, apparently borrowed from the Lake Superior Museum of Transportation:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gdaBKJvIug&t=568s
(video starts right where the Mack shows up)

From https://www.rgusrail.com/mnlsrm.html :

Quote:
Lake Shore Museum of Transportation #1 was built in 1931 by the Mack Truck Company of Allentown, PA, for Fegles Construction Company of Minneapolis, MN.

It was later owned by the Northern Pump Company, also of Minneapolis.

The Mack Company was formed in 1893. It began making rail cars and locomotives in 1905. Although it has passed through a number of owners over the years, it still operates as a subsidiary of Renault Trucks.

After retirement, #1 was donated to the museum by the Hyman-Michaels Company of Duluth, MN, and was then completely rebuilt by the Reserve Mining Company at its Babbitt, MN, shops. It is one of the oldest surviving diesel locomotives in the world, but remains fully operational and is used for switching at the museum when required. It's blunt looking, but nevertheless a nifty little bug!

Here's some good info on the Pouch Terminal's locomotive. It looks like Allaire might have been negligent in taking care of this too.

Chilling in the back of a insulated, roofed shed is hardly negligent imo.

Not sure I would call how it was stored as being negligent. It’s in a secure, heated building and when there was an open house, it is displayed prominently in the shop where it was seen during shop tours. Having been there when it was moved, yes there was great disappointment with the damage. Dual gauge track had been installed for it to be run on, and even later in the early 2000s, a spot for it in the car barn was created, again with dual gauge track running well into the station area for a nice potential run. At the time we never got the chance to have it craned over from the shop tracks to the car barn track. As to repairs, from what I recall, the body work needs to be pulled back into position, the radiators repaired as needed, and air tanks installed. At this point, the greater issue is the overall health of the organization and what impact that may have long term on the collection.

To be fair, last time this came up iirc the Mack was said to be the last choice for resale to any scrapping firms because of it's immense historical value.

Personally, and i know it's quite a longshot - I'd love to see it return to NYC. But it's current situation doesn't seem too bad

That critter is really neat!

The operation looks really "interesting."

Did anyone else notice the unique coupling arrangement between the locomotive and the streetcar/interurban? .... or that the air isn't hooked up between the two?
