The Texas cars are P70FBRs, the typical PRR mainline coach, 70 ft long interior, and a bigger, heavier, better-built car.

Come to think of it, perhaps a P70 could be considered a "Texas-sized MP54"....isn't everything bigger in Texas?

Does anyone know what the car numbers for these MP54's are? Thanks in advance.

They were 430 and 435. Most of the cars used near the end were in the 400 series. I think those numbers go all the way back through Septa, PC, and PRR.

Are there just two there or 4 now?....reason being- Time wise, these cars have been there for a while (1993 ish) and that leaves me to think that they are not part of the recent lot that came from Avondale.

The 4 cars located at Avondale were moved with the 58 to the W&W after all were donated by their owner to the Railroad. The 4 cars to my knowledge still remain land locked on the siding up at Yorklyn, as we all know the damage sustained to the railroad with flooding has left them inaccessable by rail. They were indeed put up for sale, but I highly doubt they have been bought or moved since there is no easy way to truck them out of there, and no way to get an engine into Yorklyn to move them to Hockessin for trucking.

The Wash Terminal car still sat behind the shop in Marshallton, until being moved along with the ill-fated "Handicapped Accessible Car" (still painted PC green) that was started in the 1980's and never finished, to Hercules Siding after I was told that they were sold to the Walkersville Southern, but as far as I know, they still sit there - land locked until the line is reopened.

With those two sitting in Hercules, the Open Car that the W&W uses-#442 and the #450 that sits on track 1 in Marshallton and the 4 at Yorklyn, there currently 8 MP-54's sitting on the W&W property. The two in Philly have been there for years (at least since 1995 when I first noticed them from I-95)

There was one that was sold along with the #3 (0-6-0t) to the Queen Ann's Railroad in the 1990's, that along with the 442, 450 and one who's number I do not know, were the original batch of 4 (?) that the W&W acquired from SEPTA that were used by W&W while still in SEPTA paint until the late 1980s? Could these have been part of maybe 6 that the W&W got in the 80's?

These cars were acquired by the Newtown Square Railroad Museum a couple of years ago. If someone was interested in these cars, I'm sure they could be had for the asking.

A Conrail employee was telling us in November about two MP-54s that were sitting at the old Navy Yard in Philly. Problem is the tracks are gone so you need a crane and flatbed to get them out. But from what he said they are yours for the taking. We would take them but we do not have the money to transport them and other projects higher on the list for our limited funds.
