Heh. I too have been following the Riffin stuff on the STB site for a few years now, and I have no idea what his intentions are. I wish anyone luck who wishes to maintain or restore rail service, but trying to follow some of his reasoning is painful.

Folks Here is an Update on Jack Showalters Equipment and Turntable in question.

First, The Equipment- Nothing has been sold and there are no leads on selling the stuff. Eastern shore or the new name Bay coast Railroad has purchased four Edwards rail cars rather than Jacks Canadian Loco's and Cars. Three powered and one un-powered dinner. Many groups have been looked at as a new home and different potential new owners have looked at the equipment, BUT at this time nothing has been sold, this information was provided by "Sally".

Second the Turntable in question- . The C&O table was scrapped in Intervale and it was from Hot Springs. Last I saw it it was mounted on two freight car trucks for movement, stored in the trees on nearly the last rails on the end of the siding that used to be the line to the Homestead. The City of Covington did scrap the Turntable when Jack vacated that site and moved most of his equipment to Stanton. The Turntable that Jack had stored in Gordensville was sold and went north to Pennsylvania to a new home.

Attached are links showing pictures of the Turntable while used on the C&O line to The Homestead (Hot Springs). When the line was pulled up the turntable from the end of the line was moved back to the rail head where it meet it's end.

Thanks for clearing up a lot of details about these two turntables that were only vague up to now. The only questions left would be to ask if you know what year the Hot Springs table was obtained from the C&O and in what year it was scrapped?
