I like Bob's "web-finds," always have -- but readers who have expressed annoyance seem to be concerned mainly with the number of them. My suggestion is to give Bob a "sticky" thread that remains at the top of the Interchange (if that is possible). Whenever the "new post" icon is gold, those of us who love to scan through his links, can peruse to our hearts content...
I believe the trend of expanding the discussion (on many of the subjects) will continue, and sometimes naturally spill over into the rest of the Interchange.

But unless there is greater opposition, I would vote to leave things as they are.

I have to disagree with you. If Bob wants to do the leg work to find interesting postings elsewhere, I'm most grateful. I would never be abole to cover all the bases on my own. Personally, I hope he continues what I believe is a real service.

Ed, have you tried picking the "Flat View" in the upper right corner of the page? It will reduce the topics index to the title of the original post. Any new discussion causes the "page" icon to turn yellow.

You might like this as it'll let you skim past posts that don't interest you, and you can easily see which threads are active.

Picking "Thread View" shows all the messages and it's very conceivable that one or two threads could fill the whole first page.

I'd like to add my vote for Bob's continued postings of interesting links. He has a knack for searching out interesting, often obscure sites and photos. I don't have time to do that much surfing.

Like others, if the title doesn't look interesting I'll skip it or just take a quick look to make sure.

My 2 cents worth...

Nope....don;t agree with you at all.

If you don't like 'em, then skip 'em!

Keep them coming, Bob!

There are many things wrong in this world, can't say as I think this is one of them. Some threads take up half a page and I find that annoying unless I am personally interested in that thread. So skip it and move on. Bob I appreciate your contributions. Keep'm coming. Cheers, John.

Hey, the guy once posted links to photos I took at the NRHS convention in Portland last year. I was honored (and confused at how he found them...)!

Its right at the top of the page RYPN means Railway Preservation News. Bob's posts are news to me and they are about rail subjects so the problem is?

How many times do you look at one of his picture posts and think, "Geez, where the heck did he find that!!??" Thanks Bob, and keep 'em coming.

I'll second that thought. Steady as she goes Bob, keep digging and posting.

Bob:

As a working railroader, I'm sure you're familiar with a phrase a friend of mine (and occasional poster on here) likes to use:

"Seniority is the best raincoat."

Seems to me that you're on the first page of the roster on this division, and up near the top, too. So, keep on finding those nuggets, and let the "rain" roll off....

Sometimes Bob comes up with some amazing pictures but most I ignore because the subject doesn't interest me - today I was able to, albeit briefly, relive my memories of the filthy locomotives I saw as a small boy in southern England - keep up the good work Bob, I, for one appreciate it. I just wish I could find the time to search more..................

Spot on, Gavin. Bob posts a lot of facinating pictures, but I don't look at everything. Look at what you find interesting. And if Bob's posts fill page one, it only take a click to go to page two. What's the problem?

I for one don't necessarily object to the posts themselves, although 1) they seldom interest me, 2) I do use flat view, and 3) yes, indeed, I can and do skip over what I'm not interested in.

However, if I were of a conspiracy-minded bent (which I'm not), there have been several times when it appeared to me that a sudden flood of Yarger image link posts was put up strictly to bump a controversial topic back two or three pages into the index. This comes, of course, from Bob's unleasing several link topics at once--almost as, if, say, he were storing them up for just such a nefarious purpose.

No, I don't have a tinfoil hat, why do you ask? But I tell you, the drop in gas prices is just a plot by OPEC and the Trilateral Commission to destroy Amtrak and increase our dependence on foreign oil!! And if you are too dumb to see the obvious, then you should just listen to the propaganda the government is beaming into our teeth fillings! And those mylar strips in our money that are supposed to be anti-counterfeiting? They're so the government can track your cash, I tell you!!!! Why won't anyone wake up and--URK--

Yes, Bob keep the pictures coming.

As a person who has had the pleasure of showing him around a couple of museums, I am surprised he can find the time to post so much.

Nice work!

I might add that I LIKE the brit stuff as well. We cannot
go too far wrong looking abroad for ideas even if their
environment is different than ours.
