I've never been in a position to ask, and it's never occured me to do so, but does the 360 rotation of the bell, whether purposeful or accidental, ever require the bell to be "unwound" or is it simply a swing that turns the bell in order to ring it?

I know it sounds like a silly question...


No, the rope for the manual ringer sticks out to the side enough so it isn't a problem, although it does tend to "wind up" the rope a bit. The air powered ringer isn't affected either.
