That sounds correct. I know they were in the process of deaccessioning the unit when the A&M unit was received. I have the road number somewhere.

If you want a spirited ride behind an RS-1, I suggest the Tioga Central at Wellsboro, PA. The day I rode former Washington Terminal #62 pulled the train north and former D&H RS-3U #506 pulled the return trip south. Two other RS-1s (WT #47 and NYS&W #240) appeared to be stored out of service. The TC has trackage rights over the Wellsboro & Corning freight line. Track is well maintained and the RS-1 gets to stretch its legs like it never did in Washington Terminal days.

How about the left side in CofG with a "football" box car behind it and the right side in Southern?
Although I remember them in Southern colors only, CofG had a great looking paint scheme.
It is hard to believe, at times, that out of so many units in a single class, only one remains.
It is like the PRR Hippos (I1 2-10-0) with 498 in a class and only one survived.

Or think about all of the various F units owned by Atlantic Coast Line, and none survived. In fact, there is only one covered wagon E that survived, and that because of private ownership...E-3 501 at NCTM in Spencer, NC.

The two RS-1s at MOT in St. Louis are Arkansas & Missouri #22, built in 1941 for the Atlanta & St. Andrews Bay and the oldest diesel in main line service when donated in 2002, as well as the oldest operational RS-l, which it still is. The other is Minneapolis & St. Louis #546, built in 1946 and later their #213 when they stopped numbering units by the month and year of delivery, an odd system to say the least.

Ron - Perhaps odd, but the "Louie" was not the only railroad to do it that way. I believe the Detroit & Mackinac also did it that way and they NEVER changed locomotive numbers. There may have been some other railroads that used this system too.

Graham County numbered Shays according to the year they were acquired.

Glovers construction numbers were bore and stroke, followed by the amount of that size built. Thus, the display engine in Marietta 81421 was the 21st they built with 8X14 cylinders.

CMRR 401 can be listed as operable. It has been recently used in worktrain service in Kingston, NY as the CMRR works to restore the U&D in Kingston. It is currently being repainted, and is planned to be used in limited tourist service later this year.

CMRR 2361 has a cracked block, but a spare has been procured. It will eventually be moved to Phoenicia, restored and used for tourist service there.
