John,

You may not be the right person to ask this of, but isn't there still a Aberdeen & Rockfish steam locomotive around somewhere?

In my reading I saw something but not sure where now?

The railroad short line sure has a long history!

Yes, A&R 2-8-2 40 is still up there, but last I knew it was still the property of the Valley Railroad Co., and I doubt they will want to part with her for anything.

Of course, it could be worse. Before it was A&R property, it was built in 1920 for the Portland, Astoria & Pacific RR in Verona, Oregon--which means, in a sense, that we *could* be grateful it's not sitting in a certain "pile of parts" up that way..............

Valley (A&R) #40 seems to be a natural for a vintage photo freight. Any cabooses around that could replicate one of the A&R's side door cars?

The others have filled you in on the 40 and there is not much I can add to what they have said.

We have now been in bussiness 115 years. What I find amazing about that is that the company is still a very closely held private company and the owners are decendents of the builders. Speaking as an employee we hope this arrangement continues long into the future. Believe me when I say there far worse companies to work for.

VRR has a wood Central Vermont car, no side door though. And, there's an ex-PRR (via AMTK) N-5 used for birthday parties.

Stored at Saybrook Yard at the south end of the VRR, RMNE has a wood Cotton Belt 50-foot "branchline" caboose, with a side baggage door, a bunch of windows and an end cupola. And, it's available......
