There is a whole great big world out there filled with people who are more just like us than most will ever know. They get up, get dressed, and bring home the bacon. Often trains are more a part of daily life around the world than here in the US. On a personal level seeing or riding something different is like skipping a hamburger and eating some sort of international meal once in a while. If you go to railpictures.net and check out the work of someone like John West you will be blown away at what is out there. Bring it on! Old, new, steam, diesel, electric from China, Mexico, England, Russia, Italy, South Africa, Argentina... trains are trains and I like them all!

Maybe it won't work out. But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure ever.
