To my knowledge, the problem with CSX is with one person- the one in charge of inspecting cars, apparently for the southeast, this is a guy that doesn't know the difference between "friction" bearings and rollers,he believes that the only rollers are of rotating end cap type. I'm assuming he's in charge of all "special" moves. Having experienced this on UP and having a friend deal with this guy on CSX, here is what I've learned:
Always, always talk to the "local" car inspector first! Don't go thru the sales department or special moves unless there is no other way.
When talking to the car inspector: be there in person when he inspects the equipment, be ready to show that the bearings are fully/properly lubed- have caps removed if possible. The car inspector will generally accept them if you can show/prove that they have been lubed correctly- I would have somone experienced with passenger car equipment do any inspection or work on them, perhaps even have him meet the car inspector.
The idea here being to not be "on the radar" when you ship it, management is the main problem here. So, try to keep their involvement down to only the closest yardmaster, the car inspector and the local train crew.
Going thru the right people can be the difference between paying $3500 or $35,000 to ship a car or loco.

I will ask the question again because I am interested too: What happened to the car?

And on another topic...I think the car was used in the Eisenhour funeral train as a support car. There was an article in a Trains magazine about that move. Seems like there was a C&O office car added once the car carrying the body was removed. Not much of an Eisenhour connection but maybe some of his family rode in it. Maybe.

What a shame...such a nice C&O car turned into a haunted house..

Look carefully. The date on that photo is 2005 and the Stagecoach Stop auction was in 2009. Not sure if this is the Stagecoach C&O car decorated for Halloween, or if it is another car located nearby?

Very good eye, I would have never seen that. Now does anyone know what happened to it?

As of this afternoon (5/28/2010) the car was still at the site of Stagecoach Stop and appears as shown in the recent postcard view in the earlier post.

So just out of curiosity, how many other C&O business cars are left in existance?

This was posted in the classifieds; http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140521395761. I guess we all know what will happen with this car...either get saved or get scrapped.

Does anyone have any knowledge of the current status of this car or contact information?

$80,000 for two acres and a railroad car. Might not be a bad deal, but I'm not familiar with local real estate prices or the area. I'm assuming pics are recent.

This is the ad from Mark Riggle, the Re-Max realtor selling the former Stage Coach Shops, U.S.A.

IIRC the car in question is ex-C&O #4. Last I had heard from a few people who went and looked at it, it would need a lot of work to get back up to standards even for shortline use (trucks, etc). But, as we all know, someone with the right imagination, and a few dollars can certainly turn out a great end product.

Stage Coach stop was a vintage 1950's tourist trap in Michigan's Irish hills.
