I would think some of the older Mt. Washington Cog engines have seen a few miles in their 130+ years of operation. They may not have the horizontal mileage record, but I bet they have the vertical distance record!

How about Baldwin No. 60000 though it goses up and back a few feet, it's been doing that since the 1930's.

It's still probably 50/50 for 611 vs. 4501. 611 was basically out-of-service for the majority of 1987, 88, 90 and 91, with 1218 taking the lead those years. For 1989, duties were split with 1218.

I rode a trip behind 611 and saw 611 doubleheaded with 1218 in '91, so I know it wasn't out of service that year. It actually did quite a lot that year, it's all recorded in an NS excursion schedule book.

How about C&O 614??? last used in 1998

Let's see.....two seasons with Chessie 1979-81, a month in freight service 1985, and a few weekends in NJ 1998...... Reading 2101 probably has that beat just from Reading Rambles service, never mind American Freedom Train and Chessie service........
