There was real religon on the rails too. Check out the story of the railway chapel car. This Train is Bound for Glory by Norman and Wilma Taylor is the story of the 13 chapel cars owned by the Baptists, Catholics and Episcopals.

There is a lady's side saddle on display in Eureka Springs, Ark that was given to a girl who flagged down a train ahead of a washout. When I was there it was not part of the display at the current tourist railroad, the Eureka Springs & North Arkansas.

Prairie Village, an extensive collection of pioneer buildings west of Madison, SD, has a preserved chapel car.
