I would love to see that. N&W 475 plowing in the snow and #90 riding through a Winter Wonder Land. Its like the Polar Express went through that area and left #90, 475 & 89 a little present of work and a beautiful wonderland

Looks like there will be plenty of snow for Snow Train 2010 at Mid Continent this weekend!

Would you have an estimate of when you'll be plowing?

They were working hard to plow the line today. Thanks guys for not minding the small group of us following for photos and videos. I know it was a long hard and cold day. The quality of the video is not the best but I think you will enjoy it.

I'll put up more photos and videos later. I have to spend some time with someone special right now.

I have two more posted. Again it is not the best quality as it was shot with a cheap point and shoot camera but it was super cool to see. Thanks to the guys at Strasburg.

Tom,

On the contrary, outstanding video of the plow work going on at Strasburg! Thank you for sharing it! UP, BNSF, eat your heart out! This is living history! Thank you to the Strasburg Railroad Company for keeping this equipment up and running!

Thanks for posting that piece of video. There has to be some angst in approaching grade crossings with ice build up. Keep the engine moving with sufficient speed to break the ice and hope it stays on the rails. Did someboday follow and clear the roads at the crossings, or was it not that big of a deal?

They has a number of folks out working to clean the switches and flangeways. Other folks with a scanner said the plow jumped the rails twice but I did not see or hear that for myself.

On Thursday I was up there walking around with my snowshoes and was on a deep drift. I pushed my ski pole down into it and it went all the way in and I pushed my arm into the snow up to my elbow and the ski pole never hit bottom. They were up against a lot of drifted snow.

There was a lot going on and everyone was working really hard to get everything ready. I had never seen a plow train working and have to say it was a real experience. I felt bad for the crew because it was hard cold work, not play by any means, and I'm sure hey would have preferred to be working in a warm shop or office over spending several days out in the cold working their you know what's off. I hope the charter and regular runs go off without a hitch. I'll be up to ride later in the season.
