Yes, it's true - some have known for a while now, but loose lips sink ships.

Perhaps we should have a W. Graham Claytor, Jr. Lifetime Railway Preservation Award for Mr. Moorman.

I believe I hear the angels singing "Hallelujah" and there are reports of two stars shining - one over Three Commercial Place in Norfolk and another over a certain Green, Gold, and Immortal 2-8-2 in Chattanooga.

Mike

And a certain 4-6-2 in PA is sitting there asking itself, "Hey, what about me too?"

I was thinking the same thing....oh if only they had those kinds of plans somewhere here in the northeast. 1361 would be a no-brainer.

If only I could convince someone down there that the B&M 3713 was a heritage engine!

Dave Crosby

PS, Anyone down south need an excursion organizer? I can have a resume ready asap!

That does give hope that if, and I'd say it is still a huge if, 1361 ever does run again she may have a friendly railroad to run on.

I also have to wonder if there is a very faint glimmer of hope for a a certain 4-8-4 slumbering in Roanoke......one can dream.

Jim

Could be. If I were a shipper, I'd certainly chose the road that could move the unusual or out of the ordinary as opposed to the road that couldn't!

Yeah, I thought about that Keystone engine... maybe they'll consider completing the rebuild expeditiously with a new crown sheet. Steam on Horseshoe Curve - will the rail gods and goddesses be raining more blessings on us?

Yes it is, Jim. I am sure I speak for a lot of us on here when I say I had been hoping for this one day. You have to appreciate a CEO and company that is willing to embrace their history in both steam and diesel.

Hats off to Wick Moorman!!

Hey Dave, that's an easy one.

NS is a partner in Pan Am Southern, right? And PAS's main routes are ex B&M right? And NS's big New England initiative is a rebuilding of Mechanicville Yard, once a B&M/D&H hot spot. So clearly, #2816 and #3713 need to be there for the grand reopening next year!

:-)

Rob

PS: Of course, Pan Am may require she painted in a blue dip.
