Dave,

IIRC the 2-6-0 that was on display in Colorado as a fake DSP&P engine that was later moved to a convention center in Worthington MN and then to the End of the Line museum in Currie had an 8" pump at some point in MN. I remember there was a trade that occured involving the pump but whether it was comming of going escapes me. Ten years tends to blur the facts. It might have been a 6" instead of a 8"

I have also heard that the owner of the Levithan intends to install an 8" pump at some point as well.

Looks like people soon realized that removing the lagging on the air jug was a good idea. A letter in the March 1895 issue of Railway and Locomotive Engineering offers a simple modification:

Air Cylinder Jacket and Guard.

It also notes that a shield on the air intake helps to filter out dirt and grease.
