How or what pays for insurance and how is that handled between the two entities?

May I suggest that the working relationship between both parties is critical to success or failure of both parties. Consider the issues that eventually fell upon the NN due to its freight/museum operations. After all one of their cars is still not operational after the accident and there are other signs of the differences in usage.
