Andrew, I supported this thing for about 9 years until unexpected circumstances put our family into a financial crisis. We are recovering, slowly, and will resume paying all of steamlocomotive.info's bills just as soon as possible.

That having been said, due to the overwhelming generosity of visitors to this site our hosting company is now paid for the next 24 months. One gentleman, who prefers to remain anonymous, paid for an entire year himself.

Thank you to all for your kindness and support. It makes it fun to work on adding features to the site again.

Warmest Thanks,
Doug

Curse those evil rich people who just get richer and don't share the wealth!

I'm glad that several people stepped up to keep steamlocomotive.info on line. This is a terrific resource, and one that I use frequently.

Doug Bailey made me an editor of the site a few months ago, and I've been working hard to update the locomotives in the US. So much has changed in the past five years! I've completed several of the western states, and am working on California right now. There are still several "problem" locomotives, like the 0-4-0T that was at Rio Vista Junction. Sold several years ago, it's still listed at Rio Vista because, frankly, I don't know where to move it. There are several other "problem engines" like this on the site.

There are many ways you can help keep steamlocomotive.info up to date. Each locomotive has a "notes" section where you can post information regarding that specific locomotive. It's a great way to let us know that something has moved. I've been reading the archived notes every day (you can view them in the Library section under "Recent Notes Posted") and making changes if required. You can also send info to Doug (he's here at RYPN as "Steaminfo") or to myself at jterry618@hotmail.com. I'm slowly going through each state and updating locomotives if they've moved, but I still have a long way to go.

I'm also trying to update the photos, some of which are 20 years old (or older). Doug has updated the software to allow photos up to 1024 pixels across. If you have a recent photo that of a preserved steam locomotive that you'd like to have included on the site, you can upload it to the site, or if you'd prefer you may email it to me at jterry618@hotmail.com. No need to process it; we'll resize it if need be. Your name will appear under the photo with a copyright symbol.

Thanks for your help!

Jeff Terry
