Slightly off topic but the SPCRR 1922 Plymouth has a Buda gas engine... 4 cylinder flat head of about 500 cid... It runs, but can be a bear to start... while it has an electric start we commonly end up using a hand crank...

I would venture a guess that these sites cater more toward the later smaller gas and diesel engine production rather than the 70-year old DCS-1879 Buda diesels Dave was asking about. Parts for them are still out there, just rare and pricey. Even 30 years ago parts were hard to find for the larger diesels.

Not a diesel but the Rochester and Genesse Valley Railroad Museum (Rochester NY) has a 1919 Plymouth model BL with the original Buda engine. 4 Cylinder flat head. About 50-75 hp.

After a lengthly restoration (is was derelict and outside for 30-40 years) it RUNS;

Pics and video here;

I was able to get rings and a head gasket for it. But everything else is original or refurbished (new water pump bearing, etc.)

Cheers, Kevin.
