No and yes, in that order.

It's already been taken apart; the diesel engine and main gen are out of it (for eventual display) and the hood has been cut off. Parts were taken for use in the operating 1939 Lehigh Valley SW1 in New Jersey.

The remains will be cut up over the winter.

There is simply too much equipment out there that is in need of resources that do not exist--- personnel resources, money resources, storage resources, time resources.

The story of 1110/28 will be repeated numerous times in the next few years. You want to save something? Get your resources arranged first, then be ready for the chance to get something, when that chance comes along.

That radio box in the "way back when" photo reminded me of my days with the Santa Fe radio shop at San Bernardino in 1969-70. We had many Alco switchers, and at least one RS-1 with similar boxes; they were used for Bendix MRT-8 installations. Inside the box was a rack with three slots: Receiver, Power supply, and Transmitter modules would slide into their respective positions. I wonder if any of these radio relics have been preserved....The radio techs didn't miss them at all when newer radios came into use.
