SRNJ scrapping locomotives

I don't believe SRNJ ever advertised the 410 as being for sale. I live in NJ and would have heard about it. Too bad, as I'm sure they could have found a buyer and would have gotten more for it than as scrap.

These units are notable for their assignment to the Western Allegheny branch where they were noted as being the last F-units working for their original owner in revenue service in the 1990s. In their striking as-delivered paint scheme they were frequently leased to the B&O and PRR.

Have these units been advertised as being "available" anywhere? Has any group tried to raise funds to preserve them?

It is being reported on RRPictureArchives and Facebook that the 728 now has Reading, Blue Mt. & Northern reporting marks and new number 251, and is being prepped for shipment to Port Clinton, Pa.

Will be interesting to see what scheme RBMN paints the F-units in... just kind of hard to say when they will actually begin to receive new paint.
