I had forgotten about the Scrap Yard in Knoxville. Hmm, the mystery deepens. I'm curious of those are L&N heavyweight cars behind the car in question.

David,

I'm thinking the heavyweights were most likely Southern Excursion cars. I don't recall Witherspoon ever having any HW coaches, L&N or otherwise.

That old red car is the Former Clinchfield 100.

Clearly not:

Unless there was more than one "Clinchfield 100"..

Of course it isn't...the newer car was homebuilt from something like an ACL lounge car. It still exists in private ownership...maybe it is over on the L&C?

The older Clichfield Car may have been the "1" at one time...and maybe it was named "Clinchfield" under Clinchfield ownership...but that car did belong to the CC&O far many years.

I have a few old photos of it sitting in Erwin. It is also featured in some of the Clinchfiled books.
