Grouse you seem like you are part of the group. I have tried to get a hold of someone who in the Libby area who works on the project. Was given a name, Dave Etienne? And an email, but when I sent it the email bounced back. I go to school in Bozeman and would not mind the drive on a weekend when I have time to help out. Have prior steam experience...

Anything new on this Shay rebuild? I had heard that due to a management change at the Heritage Museum, this rebuild has been stopped and funds diverted to other projects.

Shay # 1643 or #4 as called here in the Libby area. Has been sitting in its engine house, with not much activity on it, other then C.J. Carlson rebuilding the train brake control. A portion of the rear tube sheet was removed. Stay bolts will need to be replaced and a new rear sheet made. Here is where the problem starts; current officers of the museum are hostile to the members and arrogant to non-members. With their dealings, they have reduced the members say to little more then a third class status. The only light in the tunnel is all the Railroad money for the time being is in the checking account at the bank. Not scattered here and there in a money market or stockmarket. The shay is a wonderful engine and could be put back to work, if the people of the Libby area wakeup and throw out the current officers. If you would like to find out more about the Shay; The Heritage Museum POBox 628 Libby,Mt. 59923 406-293-7521
