Well just for 4 HEP jumpers for a passenger car at 85" in length is about $3,048.00 from NW Rail, or $762.00 per jumper. I will assume that the price will be even higher to replace the jumpers on an F40 since the cables/jumpers are longer.

It's running around $15,000 to replace what was damaged (materials only), and that's in addition to work needed prior to the vandalism.

I know the headache of replacing HEP. I had the same thing when vandals struck my ex Amtrak "Pacific" Series dorm lounge. The pretty much hacked and harvasted the HEP from the Juncition Box to the B-End of the car. I am looking at about $10K. So I know how the head ache also!

Ouch! Sorry to hear about what happened to the "Pacific View," Christopher!

Did they single out the HEP lines? Maybe such nice long juicy cables made exposed traction motor cables not worth bothering with.
