I have learned that HW stands for hot worked, meaning the holes were punched after the plate was heated up.

Besides Santa Fe did other RR's put their names on their tie plates? I have seen several old ones with the words :"Santa Fe" marked on the top when they were manufactured. Are these unique to ATSF?
