Last time I tried to deal with Sterling, the car I was trying to buy was caught up in bankruptcy and Sterling didn't even know it.

Might be simpler to find the actual owner and give them a number if Sterling can't connect you. Then it's up to Sterling to try to recover their brokerage fee from the seller. At least this way the car gets saved, even if it's not entirely fair to the broker.

I second this. With a car this nice, make sure you have all the bases covered. Also as an aside, which two cars in Illinois?

Per the Allegheny County website, the new owner of the property has a mailing address at a McMansion about a half mile away. See attached. Whether he actually owns the railroad car is a different question but, if not, he obviously would know who does.

I have no interest in this property and do not care to get involved.

I wonder how possible it would be to try to negotiate with the new owners of the property and how flexible they are on things. February is a bad month to try to move stuff.

I have heard that both the caboose and coach are headed to the IRM. Can anybody confirm? I would hate to hear of both of these biting the dust, and Sterling Rail's ad is no longer up, so I assume they have been sold.
