Selling collections to fund general operations

I have attached a sample Deed of Gift form that includes the following language. Note emphasis on irrevocably.

Quote:

By these presents I (we) irrevocably give, transfer, and assign to the National Capital Trolley Museum by way of gift, all right, title, and interests, in, to, and associated with the objects, documents, and materials described below.

That is a good example of a properly worded contract. No item should be accepted without an agreement or contract of this nature. Of course, with certain items there is additional due diligence required where the donor may not have the legal authority to assign or reassign certain rights (specifically copyrights to donated art).
