Preserved B units?

Yes, all 3 BN executive units are operable, the reason BN3 was on the bilevel train was that CNW 411 was not available at that time, for mechanical reasons.

Based on what I'm hearing, the two EMCO A units should have a very bright future pulling freight, and the new owner is considering a very attractive "Heritage" paint scheme inspired by one of his favorite midwestern roads.

There are no known preserved 2nd or 3rd generation B-units.
BNSF is still operating some GP60B's, originally ATSF from 1991.
they must be the last B-units in Class-1 service:

originally BN, built 1982.

One or two ex ATSF SD45-2B units still existed in 2013..

looks like a few were still operating with BNSF up to 2012!

It's interesting that all three of those B-unit classes have BNSF heritage..

Feather River Rail in Portola has SPMW 8821, former SP F7B 8300. It was rebuilt as a Rotary Snowplow power car in 1970.

IRM also owns former WSOR 102, built as UP E9B 967B, but it has yet to arrive at Union.

Should we count as "preserved" the B units still in "heritage" service on the UP, KCS, and NS? Any others in heritage service?

I am thinking only count B units that are actually traction power, as opposed to auxiliary power service.

The Feather River Rail Society also has a operational former CN F9Bu that is a stand-in for a WP unit.

UP's E9-B (963B) provides traction power, although it no longer has its original engines.

As I recall, UP also acquired 966B from Portola but has never rebuilt it.

I recall several F7B units have wound up as part of snow trains, either serving as traction of electricity.

One that I haven't seen mentioned so far is a preserved FT B-unit owned, if I recall correctly, by the museum in Roanoke; it has been painted into GM demonstrator colors and loaned out to pair with the former 103 demonstrator that wound up on SR.

I also seem to recall reading somewhere that there's a preserved FT A-B set in Mexico. Is that still around?
