Seems like once they get her running, they should get a lot of movie work out of her, considering how few pre-1900 locomotives (either real or replica) are out there in running condition in an environment which could pass for any timeframe.

Yeah, I can see it. Especially that last drive kicked way out toward the back like that...

D&RGW narrow gauge T-12 4-6-0 No. 168 was moved from Colorado Springs to Antonito earlier this week, and is once again on live rails at the Cumbres & Toltec.

Some photos by Nathan Holmes and Larry Green of the moving operation on Wednesday:

The restoration goal for #168 is for it to be as it was in the 1912-1915 era. This is the oldest it can be considering its reboilering by the Rio Grande and similar configuration issues.

I know the owner of both of the haul rigs. The one hualing the tender is a total custom fab job. Very intering build thread for those on here who also like military vehicles. It can be found at steelsoldiers.com.

The m1070 is an awesome truck for sure. They are coming out surplused now for pretty decent prices. The biggest issue is it was built overwidth- you have to have a permit just to go get ice cream!

Another issue is it only goes 45mph. Loaded, empty, off a cliff with a tailwind. Not bad for short moves, but getting it to and from takes forever...

I have often wanted to set up a rig similar to his to use for rail equipment movements here in the southeast. We have Silk Road operating over here so it isn't too bad to get equipment moved.

That is a nice little engine and will look fantastic under steam. I agree on the move work, could see a lot of use in that way.

It's all good, really, but I'm betting 168's departure is going to leave a hole in some people's hearts in Colorado Springs. . .

Thanks for the pointer Philip! And thanks to Carlos and Roger for capturing the move on video!
