There's a Caboose and Boxcar in my hometown of Winston-Salem, North Carolina that was converted into a restaurant called "The Little Red Caboose." The Caboose (which is an ex-Southern Caboose) is the Kitchen and the boxcar acts as the dining room. needless to say, it's going no where.

Richard -

I just happened to stumble across this old thread from 5 years ago and your unanswered question, so I did a bit of searching. Turns out the "Little Red Caboose Sandwich Shop" is still in business and got some good ratings (4 out of 5 stars) from various food sites. Found a couple of photos and the caboose is definitely a Southern bay window caboose, but the box car was kind of interesting. It is set up at a 90 degree angle to one end of the caboose and it appears that it may be a single sheathed wood car! Painted all red, with the steel supports painted yellow! No idea as to the heritage of the car, but somebody might be able to "go around back" as I would think that perhaps the back side might not have been painted and could show the cars railroad heritage.
